About Me

In my private practice, I offer counselling for adults and children of all ages.

  • I graduated with my Ph. D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta in 1993.

Additional Training

  • Over the years I have also trained, studied, and become proficient in a variety of therapeutic approaches (that have informed my practice).
  • More recent training has provided the opportunity for me to expand my skills and offer a more wholistic mind/body approach (Bodynamics), which incorporates an enhanced awareness and accessing of the body’s resources to facilitate further healing for my clients.
  • I continue to train in mind/body therapy.  In my experience, including the body in the therapy process provides greater resource and precision in a way that talk therapy alone typically cannot do.

Relevant Experience

  • I have over 20 years of knowledge and experience helping children and adults to heal.
  • Formerly the sleep psychologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital for seven years, I have extensive experience in treating sleep problems in babies, children, adolescents, and adults.
  • During my career, I have also taught psychology courses at the university undergraduate level (Introductory Psychology) and graduate level (Ethics).
  • I have presented to other professionals and the community on a wide variety of issues.  These have included: helping children and families to sleep, helping pediatricians address sleep issues in their patients, coping with narcolepsy, self-nurturing in women, post-traumatic stress disorder, working with cultural diversity, chronic abdominal pain in children, pain and symptom management, effective parenting, fostering resilient children, and stress management.

  • I am registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (#2333)

 Professional Memberships

  • I belong to the Psychological Association of Alberta.
  • I am a member of the Canadian Sleep Society and affiliated with the Canadian Sleep Society’s Interest Group for Insomnia.
